Go! transportation magazine
Career fairs at Perry and Iowa Youth Congress

Katie and I went to Perry High School on Wednesday, November 4 to participate in their annual career fair. We setup at a booth in the gymnasium and spent most of the morning and afternoon speaking with students and discussing the magazine and their career interests. We took our computers so they could look at the magazine. We also encouraged them to guess the Mystery photo for a chance to win a Go! T-shirt, and to take a Go! book mark.

I also gave a presentation on careers in transportation during one of the breakout sessions. You can watch the presentation Go!’s youtube channel.

The event went well and there were a couple students who approached me after the breakout session and expressed interested in engineering careers related to transportation. I spoke with them for awhile and encouraged them to explore Go!’s website further.

On Friday, November 13, Rebekah and I went to represent Go! at the Iowa Youth Congress in downtown Des Moines at the Embassy Suites. We setup a booth four two hours and spoke with members of the Youth Congress about their career interests and about how Go! can help them learn more about careers in the transportation industry.

We’ll be attending upcoming career fairs at:

  • Nevada High School in January
  • Fort Dodge Senior High School on February 18
  • Baxter CSD, Baxter, Iowa on May 4
